The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification. Online Platforms Backlash Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration. The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces. It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance. Size Classification Modifications Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Member Experiences Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she explained. Manual Updates A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products". "Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she stated. Marketplace Information The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members. It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
